The relatively young WG20 family of geared motors was expanded by helical, parallel-shaft and helical bevel gear units featuring rated torques from 820 to 1,550 Nm. The housings of the new, high-performance gear units are made from grey cast iron for extra strength. Due to the precision machined tooth profile, they provide very precise power transfer over the entire speed range.

At the Erzberg in the city of Eisenerz in Styria, Austria, mining operator VA Erzberg GmbH produces about 2.7 million tonnes of fine ore per year from an extraction volume of roughly 11 million tonnes. That makes Erzberg the largest iron ore surface mine in central Europe. A fully automated fine ore storage facility has been operating there since 2014. One of its key components is a reclaimer supplied by SBM Mineral Processing, an Austrian specialist in processing technology. WEG’s subsidiary Watt Drive provided the drive technology for the numerous conveyors of this advanced bridge bucket-wheel reclaimer.

With an output of up to 45,000 rolls per hour, the KGV-H industrial bread roll line from the Austrian manufacturer Koenig sets new performance standards. It is fully designed according to hygiene stand-ards, which impose special requirements on the drive technology. Low-voltage motors from WEG and geared motors from WEG’s subsidiary Watt Drive keep the dough moving. At the end of the process chain, the tasty baked goods – fresh rolls, baguettes, ciabatta, hamburger buns or other fine baked goods – drop onto the baking sheet.

three founders of WEG, on June 1, 2016 in Jaraguá do Sul at the age of 85.

Braun Maschinenfabrik ("Braun") has supplied a complete abrasive cut-off machine for hot cutting of radially forged bars at a stainless steel plant in Bolzano, Italy. To integrate the machine in the forging line, Braun had to completely review the material handling process and installed 68 geared motors from WEG subsidiary Watt Drive on the implemented, fully automated conveyor solution.

The mechanical shredding of waste is a tough job, so electrical drive systems for shredders must be especially sturdy and reliable. This also applies to the geared motors from WEG’s subsidiary Watt Drive, which the Austrian recycling machinery manufacturer Wagner Shredder uses to drive its new twin-shaft shredder.

With the E-CUT 200, the Springer Group, an Austrian specialist in machinery and conveying systems for the timber industry, offers timber producers an innovative trimmer with electrically operated geared pivot saw arms – the first ever without belts. They were developed by Austrian gear unit specialist Watt Drive, a subsidiary of drive manufacturer WEG, and are manufactured as special products. The E-CUT 200 also incorporates helical bevel geared motors by Watt Drive and W22 induction motors by WEG.
