Watt Drive becomes WEG Gear Systems

Watt Drive Antriebstechnik, a manufacturer of geared motors and drive solutions for industrial use based in Markt Piesting, Lower Austria, has been part of the WEG Group since 2011. The Brazilian group is one of the world's largest electric motor manufacturers and has greatly expanded its product range in recent years in order to offer integrated solutions for the entire drive train.

This has also given Watt Drive a special role within the Group. Under the new name WEG Gear Systems GmbH, the site will be upgraded to a competence center for gear technology and will be responsible for the Group's global gear business with immediate effect.

Klaus Sirrenberg, Managing Director at WEG Gear Systems, explains the advantages of the renaming: "The new company name expresses the affiliation to our parent company WEG even more clearly and further increases awareness of the WEG brand in Austria as well. In this way, we can make even better use of the global presence and leading market position of our parent company to further expand our position as a provider of drive solutions and specialist in gear technology worldwide."
